My interest in the Civil War ignited when I added my Kindle/Nook book, "The Civil War's Valiant Irish" to my narrative-histories on www.theirish-americanstory.com.  Being Philadelphia born, I have a particular interest in the 69th volunteers of the Philadelphia Brigade. On my blog, I have several articles which touch on this: "Philadelphia's Hallow Ground," and "The Civil War's Neglected Irish."

Since I've retired, I haven't seen many of the sites, but when I traveled for Weyerhaeuser, I had the pleasure of seeing many, dining in Vicksburg etc. I thought I bring a book written by Cal McCarthy to the attention of the Group. "Green, Blue and Grey" is available on Kindle.

Tell us your most interesting battlefield experience, Jim, anyone? I had the pleasure of visiting Wilson's Creek in 1991, on the 130th anniversary of the battle, and my colleague and WG co-founder Micah Chandler and I found the spot on the battlefield where Alfred Waud sketched the death of General Lyons. That was very exciting for us, to see the landscape as Waud saw it.

Great video, Peter. I'd say the woman announcer was stretching it a bit to say that the Irish Brigade "never lost a battle." They were certainly in a number of battles that were lost, with Fredericksburg, arguably the worst defeat of the war for the Army of the Potomac, topping that list.
