Two thousand and fifteen marks the 50th Anniversary of Winston Churchill's death. What's beyond the caricature of the indominable Brit of the Second World War and drinking pal of Franklin D. Roosevelt?Do those images soften our memory of earlier Churchill initiatives - the disasters of Gallipoli during World War I and the Black and Tan invasion of Ireland after the Great War? What do you think?

No I think that the Black and Tans in Ireland was a catastrophe for the Irish people - surplus to requirements after World War 1; they were sent over to Ireland to brutalise the Irish ,.Churchill may have been what Britain needed during the world War 11 - however, reading his biography; it tends to be biased toward a softer side of him ; in other parts it tends to show him a a drink swilling bully .
He was not happy with De Valera ; resisting him at every turn to try and bring Ireland into the War ; Good for De.Valera.
He was no better or worse[ except Travylan } than any of the other British Parliamentarians who ruled Ireland for over 700 years . !!!!
