To Caraway or Not to Caraway - That is the Question

With St. Paddy's Day right around the corner, visions of Irish Soda Bread are dancing in my head.

This year, like every year, the question comes up. I vote for caraway seeds, and of course, raisins.

What is your opinion?

I'm a decided 'end user' on Irish Soda Bread, Maryann. I will say that as a consumer, I love raisins, and caraway seeds seem likely to add to the fiber, probably a good thing. Is there a downside to caraway seeds?

It just comes down to personal taste. Caraway seeds have a rather strong flavor, so they're not easily ignored. Either you like them or you don't. To me they have sort of a licorice flavor, and I am a fan. I can't think of any downside to caraway seeds. In fact, they are known to help with indigestion.

LOVE Caraway! Although... I'm not sure I've had it in Irish Soda bread.

it's a thoughtful legacy, and a wonderful tribute to your Mom that you've kept this. I think your mom died last year, I recall. What was her maiden name, and what other recipes did she bequeath you?
