We hope you enjoy the above video which was broadcast LIVE here at on Monday, February 10, 2014 with Alex Fegan, Director of the film "The Irish Pub", and Marcus Tapper of Real Irish Pubs. This uniquely qualified panel discussed the role of the pub in Irish culture throughout the world.
Alex Fegan's recent documentary film "The Irish Pub" is having its North American premiere at the Toronto Irish Film Festival on February 28, 2014. The film is a celebration of and eulogy to the greatest institution in Irish society, the pub - or more specifically the traditional Irish publicans who run these establishments and the characters and communities that gather there.
The featured bar folk all run and own pubs that have been in their families for generations and it is through their warmth, wit and wisdom that viewers gain an insight into the essence of the Irish pub experience. "The Irish Pub" will then go on an extended tour of the U.S. where it will screen in theatres in Chicago, New York, Boston, Washington, Los Angeles and San Francisco. It will also subsequently be available online for download and streaming and on DVD.
