Dhia dhuit, all,
Now that all the final editing is done (including one version in which the title town was spelled 'Conakilty'...argg) my novel "The Lockwoods of Clonakilty" is available through Amazon or any bookstore's online ordering.
I'll be working with TheWildGeese.Irish to share some of the content, and perhaps a review. (If you're like me, you like to know a bit about a book before you buy it, let alone read it.)
Here's one review we particularly like:
"Straddling the English and Irish worlds separated by class and culture, Lieutenant Lockwood lived a mixed bag of blessings and curses. A loving, loyal wife, an honorable but near fatal wound from Waterloo, money problems, family problems, a drug addiction and --oh, yes-- a syphilitic madman out for his blood."
Woody Carsky-Wilson, Major (retired), US Army
I think the history is good, as "The Lockwoods of Clonakilty" is based on historical characters. They weren't famous people, but sometimes those stories are the best ones. I hope you enjoy it, and look forward to sharing more about the book, and the history that it informs it with you in the weeks to come.
Meanwhile, if you have a particular passion for Irish historical fiction or Ireland during the Napoleonic era more specifically, I'd particularly like to add you to my Friends list, via my profile here on TheWildGeese.Irish.
Good luck with your book; I wrote a book about my Granny O'Rourke ; a historical biography ; incorporating the Famine ; the 1916 Easter Rising and the War of Independence. View the video below
