LIVE Community Chat This Monday: 100% Irish 'Beef'

On Monday, January 6th at 5:00 p.m. Eastern (U.S.) Time (10:00 p.m. Irish Time), The Wild Geese Community will have the opportunity to speak with Ciara Ryan, the Creator of the wildly popular Irish Farmer Calendars.  We've selected January 6th not by mere chance, but with quite purposeful intentions.  January 6th is celebrated as "Women's Christmas" (Nollaig na mBan) in Ireland -- so called because of the Irish men taking on all the household duties for the day.  Most women hold parties or go out to celebrate the day with their friends, sisters, mothers, and aunts. Bars and restaurants serve mostly women and girls on this night, and children often buy presents for their mothers and grandmothers.

Ireland’s farmers have manned up, taken off their tops, and posed for the Irish Farmer Calendar 2014, which supports the Irish charity Bóthar*.  Christened “agri porn” by Irish television’s Ryan Tubridy, the calendar has received orders from the US, Australia, UK, Germany, Poland and France, Hong Kong, South Africa, with an international audience hungry to see the charms of Ireland’s farms.

The 2014 calendar features hunks of agricultural charm from Westmeath, Tipperary, Wexford, Armagh, Roscommon, and Kilkenny. Resplendent with their farmers’ tans, they appear in their full (or at least topless) glory along with a goat, a hen, a piglet, lambs, ducks, a rabbit and a turkey, and was shot on location in Brooke House, outside Rathdrum, County Wicklow.

Creator of the calendar series, now in its fifth year, Ciara Ryan says that interest in the calendar this year is far exceeding previous years and the feedback has been tremendous. A big surprise was with the first order for calendars coming from Brooklyn, New York.

Both Ciara Ryan and the photographer Fran Marshall have been taken aback with the response, Fran says, "All the lads were brilliant and managed to keep smiling despite being a bit cold minus their shirts. We also had great assistance with the animals from Gareth and Martin from Nore Valley mobile farm unit."

So, this is The Wild Geese community's good-natured contribution to the Women's Christmas festivities!  Men are certainly encouraged to join in on the chat, but we're especially encouraging the ladies to be in the Main Chat Room on Monday the 6th at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time to chat with Ciara Ryan about the calendar and the fine charity it helps to support.

The calendar is now available from www.FarmerCalendar.com for €10.

Just ordered 6 for my sisters and nieces!  I've been telling them how handsome the men in Ireland are.  :)
