The Wild Geese in NYC

Ah, the bright lights, the skirl of the bagpipes, the constant procession of Irish cultural events and diversions — all in the greatest Irish city in the world. . . . Come join The Wild Geese in New York City as we pursue and engage Irish culture throughout the metropolis’ byways and boreens. Many of The Wild Geese are based in metro New York, and we will seek out their events and venues, among others, to provide support for them and for Irish culture in the city, whether this be in Carnegie Hall or the Times Square subway platform. Join us, let us know what events you recommend we support and we will look to ‘rally the troops.’

Up and Coming for The Wild Geese in NYC!

'An Irish Christmas: A Musical Solstice Celebration'

After seven successful years hosting "An Irish Christmas: A Musical Solstice Celebration," at its Hell's Kitchen headquarters, the Manhattan-based Irish Arts Center is going on the road this season for six shows. Symphony Space in Manhattan (95th Street and Broadway) is home for four evening performances Thursday through Sunday, Dec. 18-21. The show is produced by the IAC and Mick Moloney and stars Athena Tergis, Billy McComiskey, Liz Hanley, Donna Long, WG's own Niall O'Leary and special guests Tamar Korn and Grace Nono. The Wild Geese in NYC will assemble for dinner and one of the four Manhattan performances to move our Irish Christmas rites into the brick-and-mortar realm. Please weigh in on which night(s) might work best for you, via ger@thewildgeese.com . We look forward to seeing many of you over dinner and at Symphony Space.

By the way, on Friday, Dec. 12, the show will be performed at historic Blairstown Theatre in Blairstown, New Jersey and on Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Edgerton Center for the Arts at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT.

So come on out, support the Center, one of The Wild Geese Irish Christmas Heritage Partners and a sponsor of our Irish Christmas celebration, as well. We're going to have an extraordinary time, through the auspices of one of the leading cultural centers in the world, much less NYC.

Tickets: $25-$65 (Symphony Space, NYC)

Note: For a limited time, members of  The Wild Geese in NYC group can buy two tickets for any of the Symphony Space shows for the price of one, on a seating-available basis. And join The Wild Geese in NYC on Friday, Dec. 19 for "An Irish Christmas" at Symphony Space, with a group dinner option before.  Details at ger@TheWildGeese.com.

Just purchased tickets to see "Transport" at the Irish Repertory Theatre here in the city next week. Looking forward to seeing it; sounds like a good show.

I'm a member of Artists Without Walls based in NYC and there are many Irish themed events sponsored by them. Hope it isn't too late to plan for this show for those of you based in NY - https://www.artistswithoutwalls.com/2014/03/13/family-entertainment...

Purchased my tickets before I knew a group trip was planned. Saw it last Thursday and it was delightful. Although the story was sad, the acting and singing were amazing and the few dances were fun. Overall, a great experience. Hope you all enjoy it as much as my husband and I did.

Jim, Brigid a chairde, delighted you'll be joining Mary and I. I believe Paraic Feeney and a pal are joining us as well, with others a distinct possibility. I'd be absolutely thrilled to get 10 on board, and we can certainly accomodate them. Let me know ASAP if you know anyone further whom might join us. I'd be happy to personally invite them. Ger
