GENEALOGY AT IRISH MEETING
The Irish Cultural Society announces one of its most popular topics, genealogy, as its subject for its October meeting. The meeting is on Wednesday, October 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Garden City Casino, 51 Cathedral Avenue, corner of Sixth Street, adjacent to the east bound platform of the LIRR Garden City Station. The meeting is free and open to the public.
The speaker will be Kathleen McGee who will speak about how to begin tracing Irish family roots.
Kathleen is the moderator of the popular Genealogy Tips and Tricks classes presented before the Irish Family History Forum meetings. She has been a volunteer family history librarian at the Plainview Family History Center for over twenty years. Ms. McGee is a board member and program coordinator at the Genealogy Federation of Long Island. Kathleen is a frequent speaker at libraries on Long Island and works with Scouts on their family history badges.
A graduate of St. John’s University, Kathleen worked in the telecommunications industry before retiring to devote more time to genealogy. Attendees should come early. Genealogy and Ms. McGee draw crowds.
At the meeting, President Clare Curtin will distribute tickets to those attending the theater trip to see Finian’s Rainbow.
