A memorial stone, honoring Father Patrick McCabe will be unveiled and Fr. McCabe commemorated by The Fenian Memorial Committee of America on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at St Mary's Cemetery outside Waseca, Minnesota. Fr. McCabe, a native son of Lough Gowna, Co. Cavan, was a secret hero in the escape from an Australian prison to America of 7 Fenians, John Boyle O'Reilly and 6 other Fenians aboard the whaler, the Catalpa in 1876. He left Australia and made his way to the USA, settling in rural Minnesota to live out his days as a pastor. Go to www.fenianmca.org for more information.
