I met Gene Tunney's son a few years ago. I believe he's still alive. He had just published his memoirs. Here's his website:

My grand mother Kate Gorey was related to the Dempseys from Rathangan, Co. Kildare area. In 1908 when she came over to NYC on the Mauretania with her Dempsey cousins, they lived around either on Amsterdam Ave or in the area. She arrived in NYC on 20 Sept 1908 with her Dempsey cousins.
