I discovered this article about the Potato Orphans. Its a story about young girls orphaned during the Famine and sent as wives or maids to Australia.

Thanks for sharing this, Catherine. How did the Famine impact your ancestors? Have you unearthed any specifics?

Hello Catherine .... I wrote a book based on my Grand. mothers life .. called .. That's Just How It Was.. It is a very personal story about my grandmother's life , trying to incorporate all aspects of her life,,,, walking her through the peripheral of Irish history,as truthfully as I could remember her telling us grandchildren her story...It is a story not and not a polished writer--

As a child I had not the wherewithal to understand or even comprehend  the terrible , awfulness of her life.. but when I started researching it all.......... there it was all.. laid out bare for me... It was only when I was reading this awfulness and the dreadful, atrocious that people were forced to live in ... that my heart ached for her and I wanted to bring her back and love her, hug her and look after her. Much. much . too late................. But at least it is there for my grand children, if they ever want to know where they come from ...  See my video below . .
