"The Pigman," an award-winning Irish short film by Rik Gordon has been recently released online. The short film follows a lonely creature who is shunned by society. When the time calls for it, he performs a brave act, but will it change the locals perception of him?
The short film was shot near Rostrevor, County Down, in the Mourne Mountains, over a week in May 2015 and was completed later that year. Rik, who originally hails from Rostrevor, was helped by friends he met in London, who came from all corners of the globe, including Australia, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Iran, Czech Republic and Taiwan. The film stars Robert Render, who has appeared in "Game of Thrones," and Kathleen Bridget Murphy, who is a Belfast native. It went on to screen in over 10 festivals and was awarded the "Best Short" at Dingle Film Festival 2016.
The short went on to screen in more festivals around Ireland and was selected in festivals throughout Europe, including Budapest Short Film Festival and Istanbul Short Film Festival. One critic described the film as “a sweet short film that reminds us to embrace those who are different.” After being broadcast on RTE in September 2018, the film is now available to view online.
You can watch the film on many platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo and Amazon Prime.
