Steeped in mythology and folklore, Tory Island stands roughly 9 miles off the coast of Donegal in the Wild Atlantic Way's north west. Arriving there by boat, you might be lucky enough to be met by the charismatic figure of Patsy Dan Rogers, the locally elected King of the island. http://www.wildatlanticway.com/stories/islands/tory-island-the-secr...

Fab photo and fab Tory. While, touring Donegal a number of years ago on a staycation, myself, hubbie and the two lads (then 10 and 15 years) stayed in the one hotel on Tory Island for a night. Really great. Had a bit of a hairy sailing over as the sea was very rough, but got there in one piece! Had a couple of drinks with Patsy Dan that night in the hotel bar. Next day went out to discover the island, turned right and walked to the lighthouse, back to the hotel for lunch, then turned left to discover the cliff walks. Absolutely amazing we really had a great time. I'd say the craic would be mighty with a gang! Highly recommended.

Great story @TotallyIrishGifts, and absolutely fantastic that you got to meet the great Patsy Dan! Maybe you might like to share your story with us on the Wild Atlantic Way to be featured on the website http://www.wildatlanticway.com/share/
