About Nicola Morris of Timeline Genealogy

Nicola Morris, with Helen Kelly a consultant genealogist for the Irish Ancestry Group at The Wild Geese, has a degree in History from Trinity College Dublin. She has worked in genealogy since 1999 and in 2007 set up Timeline Research Ltd., offering professional genealogical research services to clients at home and abroad.

In 2009, Nicola became a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists in Ireland (APGI) and is currently Hon. Secretary of the Association. She works very closely with the production company for the BBC programme “Who Do You Think You Are?” for UK and US episodes.

She has appeared on screen with Rosie O'Donnell, Jeremy Irons, Graham Norton and Chris Moyles and has researched the Irish family history of Martin Sheen, Rashida Jones and many others. She was one of the presenters of the first series of “The Genealogy Roadshow” for RTE and was a researcher for and contributor to “The Tenements,” an award-nominated series for TV3.

Nicola lectures on the Diploma in Family History at Independent Colleges, Dublin and the Archives and Records Management MA in University College Dublin. She is also a visiting lecturer on IARC educational programmes in University College Cork and the University of Limerick. She also writes about Irish genealogy for Who Do You Think You Are? and Irish Roots Magazines.

Nicola is currently part of the team of professional genealogists who provide an advisory service for visitors to the National Archives of Ireland.

As well as offering a professional genealogical research service, Nicola also works on house and building histories and histories of institutions and organisations and wrote a history of the Fulbright Commission in Ireland in 2008.

Nicola was born in Kenya to an English father and Irish mother, and draws on a rich family history that can be traced back to the court of Henry VIII, the breweries of Lancashire and farms of Yorkshire to Cork city publicans and a mysterious Italian great-great-grandmother. She grew up in Dublin city.
