My grandparents, Sue and Ray Regan, circa 1918. They had been married less than a year, I believe, with my Uncle Raymond, their first born, coming in 1919 and my Dad, Jerry Regan, arriving in 1921. Sue died July 25, 1979, age 82 years of age at her home in Garden City, N.Y. She was born Susan Catherine Condon in 1896, in Manhattan, the grandchild of Irish immigrants. Her mother was Susan Condon nee Irwin, The Irwins, I believe, may have hailed from Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan, but I'm far from certain of that. They are buried together in Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, New York, across the road from my Mom and Dad and sister.

your grandmother was a beauty!
Go raibh maith agat, Bill. I think this may have been taken on their honeymoon. I only saw her in her late middle ages, so I was startled when I came on this picture -- she was so well, in her own words, "dolled up" and comely.
Quite the handsome pair these two! I think you favor your Gran just a smidgen
Yes, surprised when I found this pic, Bit. Their generation, in the middle class, as they were, typically didn't attempt to keep themselves youthful looking, in either wardrobe, hairstyle, physique or attitudes. I was adopted into the Regans, BTW. My first mother, Mary Louise O'Connor, gave birth to me at age 20 in Manhattan. My first father was Jewish, John DeWitt Shiman. They weren't married and Mary relinquished me for adoption.
Strange how that happens sometimes...where the adopted member still carries the features of the family...
Yes, I have been told by a cousin that I really favor their father more than any of them, and we don't share any DNA.
