What Gilmore did in regards to Irish day was unusual as it placed Ireland on the podium as an equal participant as a nation with all the other nations present . The Irish Band had arrived late and with little practice , and along with others participants played Moores "Believe me in all those endearing young charms" ,plus "The Harp through Taras Halls" plus "The Last Rose of Summer" . Strauss played "1001 Nights"
