Event Description

The Irish History Round Table Presents:
“THE IRISH SITUATION” Looking at Modern & Contemporary Irish Art in Context
A free and Public lecture by Sarah Churchill, M.Phil in Irish Art History, Trinity College Dublin

THE GREAT HUNGER. EASTER RISING. EMIGRATION….

Ireland is an island shaped by centuries of foreign occupation, devastating famine, civil war and economic instability. And yet, in spite (or perhaps, because) of these obstacles, the country has enjoyed a flourishing, though underexplored, visual arts culture.

Join us as we examine the political, psychological and sociological effects of Irish history on its modern and contemporary art.
