Event Description

Not even a blizzard will stop Radio Free Eireann from broadcasting live this Saturday, February 15th, from 1-2 pm New York time as we attempt to raise funds to keep WBAI and Radio Free Eireann on the air.

We will feature an interview with Eamon Loinsigh, the author of Light of the Dididcoy,  the acclaimed new novel about Irish immigrant gangs on the Brooklyn waterfront in the early years of the 20th Century. Peter Quinn, the author of Banished Children of Eve, has called Light of the Diddicoy "a rich and rollicking tale of immigrant struggle and ethnic conflict that brings to life the lost world of New York's waterfront."
We will offer Light of the Diddicoy as a thank you gift to anyone who makes a $75 contribution to WBAI. You can call 212 209 2950 and ask for "Irish book" or Light of the Diddicoy.  Or go online to give2wbai, click on Winter Fund Drive Thank You Gifts, and scroll down to "Irish Book Light of the Diddicoy."
Your contribution, in whatever amount you can afford, will help keep Radio Free Eireann on the air.
Radio Free Eireann can be heard Saturdays from 1-2 pm New York time on WBAI 99.5FM and on the web where shows are archived for 10 days. We broadcast live from Rocky Sullivan's, 34 Van Dyke Street in Red Hook Brooklyn where much of the action in Light of the Diddicoy takes place.
A big "Thank You" to everyone who gave last week. If you didn't get a chance to contribute then please be sure to give on Saturday either by calling 212 209 2950 or online at give2wbai. Thank you very much.
