Michael Patrick MacDonald, the author of “All Souls: A Family Story from Southie,” will discuss the Whitey Bulger trial on Radio Free Eireann this Saturday. April 22nd at 1pm as we continue our live broadcasts from Rocky Sullivan’s in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
Michael Patrick MacDonald grew up in South Boston’s “Lower End’’ which held the country’s highest concentration of white poverty. The neighborhood was ruled by Bulger and his gang with the active assistance of the FBI.
There will also be live music from the Lost Tribe of Donegal. Rocky Sullivan’s is located at 34 Van Dyke Street in Red Hook. Travel directions are available on their web site, rockysullivansredhook.com.

I'm gonna try to get there.I grew up in Jersey about five miles from the GW Bridge, and I can remember only being in Brooklyn (not driving through Brooklyn) once. Hey, the baseball Giants were in Manhattan. What need to go to Brooklyn??
Read the book about Whitey by the Globe reporter. Interesting fact is that Bulger's early days, one of his counsellers (not in a legal way, but more as a mentor) was Fr. Robert Drinan of BC Law and the U.S. House of Representatives.
