FOIF, explain a bit about the history of the drive, and how it works -- how are recipient families chosen and in what form is the aid given? This seems a very worthy tradition!

Thank you Gerry.  Friends Of Irish Freedom was founded in NYC in 1916 for the purpose of aiding Irish Republican Prisoners & their dependents following the Easter Uprising.  We continue this work today.  We are the only organization in the USA to ever work with the late Sr. Sarah Clarke in her efforts to support Irish Republican Prisoners in England.  In recent decades, FOIF has purchased clothing, toys, sweets, etc... for prisoners children.  With sky-rocketing airmail costs, we now give financial aid to Prisoners Dependents. This helps wives & mothers of prisoners to provide food, heat, clothing, expenses to get visits at the prisons!  It is the Christian thing to do.  We have supported families regardless of the prisoner's affiliation.  Of course, in some cases the prisoner is completely innocent, is on remand, some are independent Republicans.  We have had growing support for the prisoners & their families as their numbers increase!  All donations can be sent to: Friends Of Irish Freedom, P.
