The Shoe Box Toy Factory is reopening and we are recruiting for Volunteer Elves!
In 2012 The New York Irish Center along with the Irish Day of Action Committee Volunteers met a more seasonal type of need, to some of the worst affected areas in the Rockways after Hurricane Sandy, by making and delivering over 600 shoeboxes to children and families that were severely displaced. This magical effort has continued every year since because there is still a need for it. When the New York Irish Center re-opened its Shoe Box Factory complete with volunteer elves and made another 500 Shoe Box Gifts that were delivered to the Rockaways and distributed by “Homes for Humanity” to children in need.
In 2015 we will continue this seasonal relief effort by reopening our Shoebox Factory and bring a little joy to those in need of it most during the holidays.
So this is your chance to become one of our valued Shoe Box Factory Elves for the day and bring much needed seaonsal relief to families still feeling the hardship three years on from Hurricane Sandy.
Please join us for a day of joyous, selfless seasonal fun. This is also a great family friendly fun event.
