Hello Kristen,

I was there on a Thursday! They handed me the microphone and asked me to lead in a song!! 😃

The only family that I know of for sure is cousin Mick, who recently moved from Kenmare down to Beara. Not sure which town.

And where are you?

Hi Chris, thanks for the reply.

So Denis O'Sullivan (Roger) is my Great Grandfather. My direct grandfather was Cornelius O'Sullivan - who would have been another of your father's cousins.

Glad to hear you dad is alive and well. I would really love to hear any other information from your side. I have asked my own Dad (Cousin of Mick, Denis & Michael) about people in the family, but unfortunately he has forgotten half the names.

Mark,

very nice to meet you! When my wife and I were visiting in 2023, I had a nice visit with Mick! He and his wife were just moving from Kenmare to Eyeries at that time.

i Have an uncle Cornelius, who passed several years ago. Quite the family name. The furthest back I can go with any certainty is Cornelius Sullivan (1815) and Mary (1822). From there it’s Michael Sullivan and Johanna Rice.

Farmers and blacksmiths, and of course publicans of Ó’Súilleabháins in Kilgarvan. The clan is from neighboring Mangerton. My grandmother, George’s wife, was a Healy from nearby Bausheen.

i am from New York, which is where my grandparents landed at Ellis Island. I’m currently living in Reno, NV, USA

in 2022 I got my Irish citizenship and passport.

Really interesting you mention your grandmother being a Healy, because I have got an old Blacksmithing apprenticeship document between my Grandfather (Cornelius) and a Timothy Healey - who was also referred to as an 'uncle'.

I have been in the process of trying to apply for my Irish citizenship and passport too during the past few years - which has encouraged me to go digging for more family history.

I met up with Mick and Antoinette back in 2014 almost purely by chance with a visit to Kenmare. Really lovely people, and they showed me the pub in Kilgarvan plus some other family spots.

I'll be back again with more questions if you don't mind (at some point).
