Recorded on the Isle of Lewis. Psalm 79, verses 3 and 4. A unique sound in the world of music!

There is a series on BBC Alba (Scots Gaelic) at the minute which suggests that the Gospel Choirs of the southern US grew out of this style - from Scots Plantation owners who brought this music with them.
I'm unconvinced by the theory but this is a great, and unique, Gaelic sound. Has anyone heard this type of singing in the US?
