A Blessed Nettlemas to all our members here.
Nettlemas, the name the Irish gave to the eve prior to Féile na Neantóg or May 1. On Nettlemas night, boys walked in the streets stinging one another with nettles. We can for go that custom, I am thinking. Instead, shall we toast to the start of a new season, the half point between Spring equinox and Summer solstice.
Light the bonfires, call on the protective benefits of smoke, flame and ash. Gather yellow gorse and wildflowers to decorate your doors and windows. Smudge the frames inside and out with the ash from the Beltaine fire. Do ya live by the coast? decorate a small bush with shells, ribbons, seaweed, beach flowers. Gather the dew from the Holy wells and wash your face clean of all that holds you back
Above all...dance... dance in the morning...dance at midday...dance in the moonlight of Nettlemas and the sunrise of Beltaine
