I have been actively pursuing the study of Irish History since I visited Ireland when I was 16, in 1964.  My mother's ancestors came from Clare and I recently traced my father's family back to Cork. My particular interest is in the events leading to the Easter Rising and establishment of the Irish Free State, since seeing the places where the actual events took place left a lasting impression with me. I am presently taking an online course from Trinity covering this time frame .

My hope is to return to Ireland some time soon and re-trace my first visit - this time with my new knowledge of history and family !!
