Teacher Conor Power, left, and his charges from Colaiste Chiarain, located in Croom, County Limerick. take a bow at Irish Consulate NYC last Friday. The students -- Eoin Hayes, Tiernan O'Rourke, Adam Hannan, Bryan Lynch, Christina Enright, and Aoife Lannon -- won the top award in The inaugural Youth for Decent Work Awards run by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions' Youth Connect Programme last March.

Left to right are Conor Power; Deputy Consul Peter Ryan; Fergus O’Dowd, TD, Minister of State at the Department of Communications, Energy & Natural Resources and Environment, Community & Local Govt; and the visiting Colaiste Chiarain team, which won 'Best Overall Video,’ with their short film, "Something To Fight For." Like all the entries, the video focused on the 1913 Lockout and the concept of 'Decent Work."

The kids and Power received a five-day team trip to New York to learn about the influence of Irish immigrants on American Politics and the American Labour Movement, co-hosted by the Irish Embassy and National US Trade Unions based in New York and Washington D.C.
