Shrouded in mist, this photo has been used to show why 20 miles away was a long way off in the old days.  I did hear of one fellow who would walk about that far every Saturday morning to get to the dance, and every Sunday afternoon to get home for Monday's work day.  The local pub would not open for anyone on a Sunday unless they were such a traveler.
