Bronx, N.Y. -- The musical cadence of Irish accents greeted and beckoned the hundreds who participated in Pieta House's 'Darkness Into Light' Run / Walk today. Participants gathered at Gaelic Park, and then walked or ran through nearby Van Cortland Park. The event, one of scores worldwide, was hosted is the first in New York City. and intended to help raise funds to create a counseling center for Pieta House in NYC, within the New York Irish Center. Pieta House offers facilities in a growing number of towns and cities in Ireland and the diaspora for the prevention of suicide and self-harm.
