Bronx, N.Y. -- The musical cadence of Irish accents greeted and beckoned the hundreds who participated in Pieta House's 'Darkness Into Light' Run / Walk today. The event, one of scores worldwide, is the first in New York City. and intended to help raise funds to create a counseling center for Pieta House in NYC, within the New York Irish Center. Pieta House offers facilities in a growing number of towns and cities in Ireland and the diaspora for the prevention of suicide and self-harm. Participants checked in at Gaelic Park, pictured here, and then walked or ran through nearby Van Cortland Park.
