New York -- About 250 helped fill a lecture hall at New York University on Thursday evening to hear Professor Marion Casey discuss “New York’s Hill of Assembly: John Hughes & St. Patrick’s Cathedral.” The lecture helped mark the 150th anniversary of the death of New York’s first archbishop, known by many contemporaries as "Dagger John." The presentation was introduced by WG member Cormac O'Malley, a member of Glucksman Ireland House NYU Advisory Board, son of Irish revolutionary Ernie O'Malley, and sponsor of the evening's annual Ernie O'Malley Lecture on Irish-American History. Casey, a mainstay of NYU's Glucksman Ireland House, can be seen behind the podium to the right of the screen, which pictures the Tyrone-born archbishop.
