Fore Abbey
Fore Abbey Co Westmeath is the old Benedictine Abbey ruin, situated to the north of Lough Lene in County Westmeath, Ireland.
It was founded by St Feichin in 630AD, It is one of the seven wonders of Fore - The monastery built on a bog, which never sinks

Are those sheep at the base of this abbey? If so, they indicate, by comparison, how huge these ruins are.

No...I believe those are clover flowers... THough the Abbey walls are tall...the outside walls are taller than myself..by about 6"... and I am 5' 2

Thanks, Bit....huge difference. :) These are the monks who created the brandy-based Benedictine liqueur; however, that recipe was formulated in France. You probably know this....others may not. I appreciate your reply. :)
