We made it with stale buttered bread and added the raisins and soaked it in tea then baked it in the custard.

Always loved that :) I know it as Bread And Butter Pudding. We thought we were pretty inspired when we thought of doing it with brack!

Yes, though the name's always been a contentious issue in Ireland! (Dorothea Herbert in her Retrospections 1770 - 1806 refers to 'a large barnbrack' which is brought to a party.)
