I wonder why these photos were given as being about 1930. In my view these conditions lasted much longer than that and probably much sooner than that too.

Hi, Matt. These images are known to have been shot around 1930 based on some of the features appearing in various photos from the set. It may even be the case that the photographer is known to some. In any case, you are correct ... the conditions shown in The Claddagh did exist well before 1930. Not so much after 1930, though ... at least not in The Claddagh. Shortly after these photos were taken, each of the remaining thatched homes were razed and replaced with the dull, featureless, cookie-cutter homes seen there to this day.
