Historian John Ridge, who has written and researched extensively about the Irish in New York City, spoke Wednesday night to more than 50 individuals, including four of The Wild Geese, at the Irish Cultural Society of Garden City's venue in the village library. His topic: The Lost Irish County Colonies of New York, highlighting the enclaves that heavily drew immigrants from specific counties in Ireland, including Longford, Kerry, Cork and Tipperary.
