And I do hope you do the DNA testing! I'm still trying to confirm that Arthur is, in fact, my father. I'm 99% certain based on my mother's recounting and backed by info Jean had. But it would be nice to confirm it definitively. You'd be the closest relation I've come across so far, and given our (well, my putative) grandmothers were sisters, it should show a pretty close match. If it's something you'd be willing to do, I'd be happy to order an Ancestry kit for you.

You've got me absolutely fascinated with Eileen Holt now! Do you think there's a possibility she could have gone off to Australia? I found the following passenger list on Ancestry. Given that many recorders of records often wrote down what they heard, rather than actual spellings of forenames/surnames, it's possible she might have been logged as an "Ellen" rather than "Eileen."
