Fibin Theatre Company combined efforts with New York Irish Center earlier this month to present 'An Ron Dall' (The Blind Seal), a multimedia production presented via recitation, live music and the real-time paintings of Belfast-trained artist Dara McGee.

The work captured here recounts the fate of a domesticated seal at the home of a fisherman in Renvyle, Connemara. The narrative is based on stories gathered by County Down-born novelist William Hamilton Maxwell, collated in his 1832 book "Wild Sports of the West."

Those attending the center's Shrove Tuesday performance indulged in pancakes provided by the staff and volunteers at the center. Facilitating the evening's unusual and colorful diversion was NYIC's Jane McCarter.

The Connemara-based crew at Fibin creates exciting, energetic and decidedly innovative theatre through the medium of the Irish language.
