Lisa, Turk's mother was notified of her son's death via a telegram from the War Department, which is also in my possession. I suspect the telegram came first.
Still. Really shocking to see it printed on a letter like that. So sad, Gerry...
It's interesting, as well as poignant, Lisa. I'm the only one in the extended family that I know of that's committed to exploring Turk Condon's story, the only one in the world, then! I feel it's a noblesse oblige, and find myself wondering the unknowable -- does Turk know that I am struggling to understand his life, and death, otherwise sadly neglected?
