Reports of the daily events were carried by papers across the land with the intensity of interest that would equal a modern day Olympics . A woman sent a telegraph to Gilmore from Liverpool England stating that she would leave her upstairs windows open so that the dulcet sounds of Boston would waft their way to her house . In France and Germany they watched listened and read and waited in amazement as the event took place
