I am a member of Rockingham Catalpa Adventure, a community group that is a sub-committee of Tourism Rockingham in Western Australia.We held our first Catalpa Festival on Easter Monday, 2023. This was very successful. We hold the festival because the escape is an important part of Rockingham's heritage. The Fenian escapees fled Fremantle jail to Rockingham where they boarded a whaler and rowed to the Catalpa, an American whale boat hired by Fenians in Boston USA to make the rescue.I have a…See More
