Wild West of Ireland

It seems absurd to be visiting the “Wild West of Ireland” and staying in four star B&B’s but there are things in life that when received, you just have to suffer through like soft rain that ends with a lovely rainbow. Give me the open arms and pints of the people of the west, their music, conversation & Sean Nos dance and I will be resting on solid ground no matter the bed.

I am a photographer, marine biologist & poet living in Mystic, CT with family Clare roots. Some of my photos are in places like McGann’s Pub Doolin, Clare, Matt Molloy’s Tavern in Westport, Mayo, Comerford’s Pub Doonbeg, Clare and the Micho Russell Community Center Doolin. My poems have been published in Revival Literary Journals, Limerick and in a book celebrating the life of the Limerick poet Michael Hartnett; I Live in Michael Hartnett (2013).  My artist name is B.D.MacMahon.

The wild west of Ireland is a place that never stands still. It is always changing, so whether it is your first time or not, it is the first time again and whether you are on a spiritual walk in the Burren or perhaps the cliff walk in Kilkee, you will walk out of it experiencing your Celtic self for the first time each time.

I am hoping that I will be able to once again visit the west and experience the wonderful ocean views of the west coast from top to bottom while keeping a blog of experiences and photos for The Wild Geese website.

Thank you for your consideration,

B.D.MacMahon

Bruce, et al, all entries to "The Wild West of Ireland: You Won't Forget Your First Time" must adhere to the following, as found in the competition's official Terms and Conditions:

"The entry must be posted on TheWildGeese.Irish as a blog post, photo, photo album, or video. The subject line of an entry must include the words "Wild West of Ireland" to be eligible for consideration.

You've posted here in a Discussion thread, which doesn't meet the aforementioned criteria and hence doesn't constitute a valid entry. Let us know if you need or would like further clarification. Gerry Regan, Coordinator, The Rules Committee
