Hi everyone
I have been researching my irish family for a couple of years now and cannot get any further on my father's side. My great grandfather Charles Falloon (farmer) and his wife Eliza came to Scotland around 1890 and as far as I know they were from Lurgan, Co Armagh. That's what my dad always told me. I cannot find any birth records for his first two children either who were born in Ireland. Trying to decipher handwritten names proves difficult so I am unsure of my great grandmother's birth name which looks as if it maybe McCaughley or Collery. So hard to find any further details. Anyone have any ideas. I am travelling to Ireland for a holiday in June so could drop into Belfast Records and maybe do a search but just don't know where to start now.
I am very proud to have Irish ancestors on both sides of my family. On my mothers side are the O'Connor family. My great great grandfather was Owen Connor, then his son my great grandfather Patrick O'Conner and then my grandfather also Patrick O'Connor. I know Owen's father was Thomas Connor but don't know year he was born or much else. So everything is at a standstill.
I would love to know where they all came from so I could visit those areas.
Thanks for reading
Ellen

Hi Ellen:
As you know from your researching - there are records you are probably never going to possess as they do not exist anymore. I am offering the attached for your files on O connor. You did not give your location but if you start with descendant 70 on the PDF you will find an O'Connor entering the United States in Virginia. Just put it into you files and maybe someday you can connect somewhere with the Kings of Ireland. I have the same problem with both Irish heritage and my Italian heritage. Someone once sent me a story of my surname, Notaro, going back before the crusades to the Knights of the Order of St John of Jerusalem of Malta which still exists today. I will never be able to connect but I know in my heart.
Hi Dee
Thank you very much for this. It looks very interesting. My g t gt grandfather Owen O'Connor was born in Roscommon, Ireland around 1836. His Father my gt gt gt Grandfather Thomas, I guess would maybe be about 1800 or so. Just can't find any further info to take me back further than that unfortunately. I am trying to find out exactly where they came from as I would love to walk in their footsteps so to speak and see the land that they once walked and lived on. I know that some of my Falloon and O'Connor families have emigrated to America, Canada and Australia. Maybe one day I will get lucky and find out something more but till then I live in hope.
Thank you once again
Ellen
This might help -- the O'Conors / O'Connors were a great ruling sept in Roscommon at least as far back as the 12th century. The O'Conor Don [head of the clan] is still living in Roscommon. There is quite a bit written about the O'Connors.
Hi Mary, Thanks for the info. Where would be best to find info about the O'Connor sept
There is a Charles Falloon in Griffiths Valuation of Ireland;
