Wild Geese Effort Nets Over 600 New Members ... and One Big Winner

The online community for the history and heritage of the Irish worldwide, The Wild Geese, has welcomed over 600 new members through its "Bring a Pal Home" campaign.

"Members invited their friends to join The Wild Geese and enter they did, in droves," Wild Geese executive producer Gerry Regan said, adding "And we had quite a prize for our top recruiter!"

Rob Mullally of San Diego brought in an impressive 170 new members, securing the "Bring a Pal Home" Grand Prize -- round-trip airfare for two to Dublin.

"Congratulations, Rob, and thank you for your commitment to The Wild Geese mission,” Regan said. "We are looking forward to Rob's posts and photos on his Wild Geese page about his visit to Ireland, and the contributions of his 170 pals.”

New to The Wild Geese herself, New York City resident Nicola Duffy came in second, bringing 48 pals with her. Carey Given, from Martinsburg, West Virginia, was close behind with 44 pals.  For their efforts, both earned exclusive presentation-style, personalized vases from Wild Geese Heritage PartnerSean Egan Art Glass, designed and hand-blown in Waterford, Ireland, with rare level of craftsmanship.

With the success of "Bring A Pal Home," the network’s producers are preparing its newest initiative, “The Wild Geese Presents an Irish Christmas,” a community-wide look at how the holiday is celebrated by the Irish worldwide, featuring a holiday marketplace connecting global Irish customers with The Wild Geese’s growing number of Irish Heritage Partners.

The month-long event will, noted Regan, “bring the joys, rites, food, beverages, crafts, spirits, and opportunities of an Irish Christmas to the world.” He added, “It's no accident that Ebenezer Scrooge hadn't a drop of Irish blood … as far as we know.”
