I am Lizbeth Linder Little. My own family roots in Ireland are from the first "plantations" eras of the 1700's as my Harrell and Nelson roots left for freedom in America.
My husbands mom is 1st gen American born, descended from several families of Kilkenny County. Hawe, Cormack, Griffin, and others. Her mother, Mary Catherine Hawe, b near Callan cty Kilkienny, came to America via Cork and Ellis Island in late 1800's as a child. She was the only one of her siblings sent to America. Lived with an uncle Patrick Hawe (b in Coollagh, cty Kilkenny), a Catholic priest in Pennsylvania. Married around 1910 to John Braden, in New Kensington, PA. Family has always said that Grandpa Braden was from Ireland too, but unable to find him. He died in a railroad accident in late 1920's. Grandmother Braden never remarried, raised 3 children alone.

I was born with the name Malachy Peter O Neill. There was a deformity on my left hand, which as you all know, on an O Neill, from Tyrone, is the mark of God to indicate the rightful Chief Of the Clan O Neill. (This is where the Red hand of Ulster symbol comes from) The double top secret cabal, who like the monks in Tibet scour the land for the next reincarnation of the Dali Lama, ripped me from the arms of my loving mother and gave me to a battle hardened snatch squad of Carmelite nuns to begin my training to become the worlds leading Master Candle maker, the Chief of the Clan O Neill and the true King of Ireland. San Diego, CA has been home for 22 years, but I am still trying to leave behind some of my New York-isms. I remember picketing the English embassy there on lunch hours during the '80s. Through my Grandda, I have dual American-Irish citizenship and nearly annually visit my favorite places:Counties Cork and Kerry. Our family is from Mallow, Co. Cork and lived on what is now called Fair St., once Fair Lane. Yes, Grandda moved to Michigan and worked in the Ford plant! This spring I stayed in Cork City for a few weeks to research for a novel I'll be writing, then moved on to my rental house in Co Kerry west of Dunquin on the Dingle for two months. It was the funniest thing when my younger sister visited and wanted to know what there was to 'do' every night. We get 8 TV stations and the nearest pub is 2 miles away. Weren't the cows and sheep in the next field or the oean crashing into the cliffs across the road enough to keep her amused? Our grandfather had been trained not to dwell on the past, the McAuliffe clan hosts regular rallies and I've picked up a bit of family history and a few 'relations.' At this time I am especially interested in the experiences and aftermath for the many women who were at one time confined to the Magdalene Laundries.

My name is Kimberly Wanzer. I want to personally welcome you to this wonderful site, I've enjoyed so much. I enjoyed your intro and wanted to let you know I was born in Michigan in the '60's and my Irish grandfather worked for a Steudabacker (not sure the spelling) Car company in Detroit.He was originally from Pettigo, Co Donegal. God bless you in your writing and oh by the way, I'm in the process of writing a book myself. Great to see your smile'n face.
