Parnell led the cause of Irish Independence up the garden path through the Land League breaking with the greater issue of equality of class. Redmond led us up a different path or deadly imperial war with the promise of Home Rule which never happened.

Two good peaceful leaders would be John Hume who won a Nobel Prize for peaceful protests on civil rights an still living, and ...Christy Hennessy through his musical genius is a testament to the sad reality of emigration and ill health, the fate of so many unrepresented Irish people who took the boat. He has died but is another great example of a peaceful Irish Leader and if you have the time listen to the soul of an emigrant singing "Remember Me"
