Speaking of music, we've recently discovered the social network SoundCloud, and I've become a huge fan. Recording artists across all genres, including Irish and world music, have joined. The platform allows recording artists and those who appreciate their work to support each other, by providing access to their music and spoken word pieces.
Check out this piece, "Follow Me Up To Carlow," a gritty take on a stirring anthem of insurrection, hailing the revolt of the Irish against Elizabeth's I's forces. I fondly remember Planxty's arrangement of this song.
See if you can find, and share, some of your Irish favorites, with us, via SoundCloud.com.
