Giving this sick person any space here is a crime. She has been known to be a right wing extremist for years here. Forge3t her.
I recall in those by gone days she likes to recall that the Irish were so hated by the English that one of their elite traveled to the US and said upon return: "The problems in America would be resolved if every Irishman would kill a nigger and be hung for it."
Lets do not use trash like her to get discussion going. Lets stick with subjects like Wolfe Tone etc.
Bernard,
I could not agree more. The hatred here in America stoked by these right wing extremist makes me sick. The left had better straighten up as well. But they are not as bad with the hate mongering. Too damn bad the Irish were so hated. That breaks my heart.
Deb
Yes, Deb, but by and large, while the constant demeaning of our ancestors by the Engllish, press, lords, and landowners, didn't help their self esteem, it many cases it raised it Because of these English haters, many Irish embraced their church more firmly, because the English tried to end it. Our ancestors got laugh after laugh from each other as they privately made fun of the rigid English. And, I can only speak for my family, all of whom on both sides go back to counties in Ireland, north to south, NONE EVER EVER THOUGHT THEY WERE ANYTHING BUT SUPERIOR TO THE ENGLISH. They would show that always and all ways. They were much happier people too, loved to dance, sing and their native land; never would have left had it not been for the famine, which the English made our holocaust. Maybe my kin should not have felt genuinely better than the English but they were and showed it from the turn of the 20th Cent to now.....But, they did not rub it in like the English and their kinds did.; ie, it never got to that degree of hate, only pity for them as rigid snobs.
They ,English, owe us big time. But I, ironically, want nothing they could give in pay back.
Bernard,
Thanks for all of that info. While researching my Irish roots, which are many, I have learned to really dislike ( a soft word) the English. You are right about the Irish having a holocaust via England. My son is a history buff and said these exact words that you have spoken about 3 months ago. It is so sad that the rest of the world can't see that. But the Irish do NOT control the media, now do they?
Deb
No Deb, you correct. The Irish do not control the media. And I can say after a lifetime of studying those in a position of influence, it would not solve our problems if we were in charge. Like in Ireland the Irish are usually in charge and ...
The Jews show what could have been in this country. They do conrtol all the media, all, said they would after WWII, and are not ashamed of it. They say they do, and they do. They also say they intend to stay in that control. They stick together important ways which we have a hard time with.
The holocaust taught the Jews to do this. A necessity. It has not taught them how come so many people in the world feel badly about them. I had thought, reviewing history, that our holocaust would have pulled us together more than it did. One thing. The Irish have supervised themselves, ie, if an Irish person or family was behaving badly----other Irish could/would boycott them. Boycott became our word. In side and outside families
Its so good to see you commenting Deb. Keep it up please.
Bernard,
I will be keeping it up as long as my mind is still ticking, so to speak ! LOL
I have no bad feelings towards the Jews due to the fact that I have several Jewish friends who I listen to as well. I have not in the past aligned myself even with the Irish or the Scots, which I am both. Mostly Irish though. I feel sad for myself that in the past years of my life I did not recognize who I really am. Now that I have "found" myself, I could not be happier.
Boycotting inside a family I do understand !!!
I have to go now but I sure enjoy your writing as well....so please continue to educate me.
By the way, just today I found that my GGgrandparents were arrested on RIOT charges around July 1877 a year before my GGrandmother was born. It was labeled the Derryaugh Riot Case. LOL It was against, George ( my gggfthr) Wm.J., Stephen, Thomas, and ELIZABETH Smyth. This is how I found where they lived which was on Clonmacash Road In Tartaraghan, Craigavon UK. This whole riot thing explains some of my relatives !!!
Have a great night Bernard.
Deb
I am very proud of you Deb. It is not always, and was certainly not always, easy being Irish. But worth it. Go Notre Dame!
Some of the early Irish in the US didn't stop at boycotting their Irish kin who misbehaved, but went right on into downright snobbery. What a paradox!
My people were almost 100 % Irish with a Graham in there. But that was maternal Grandpa Graham who insisted he was Irish and said he would lick any man who said he was not. Trouble is---Graham is a 99 % Scottish name; the 1% were O'Gormleys who took the name when Cromwell was killing Irish by the score, just for being Irish.
Thought you would appreciate a little humor Deb. God Bless. Bernard
While I may have an issue or two with Jews, my comment about their controlling the media is just an objective fact which they not only accept, but are proud of and mean to hold onto.
A Jewish lady bought my private practice and I have worked with several over the years; one being a best friend. But, I still have some issues.
But not for here! This is and should be about the Irish and their present and past enemies. Note I said IRISH and not protestant or Cathollic Irish; just IRISH.
One definition of the name Graham is Grey-Home; say it with a bit of a broque and you can hear grey-home. Or Gray Haeme.
I would bet much that your gg grandmother was a piece of work!
I must have told you I have been a ND fan since age 5. My son, a ND grad, will not watch their fb games because their losses and many close losing games over the last too many years cause him great angst.
Bernie
Ann's shrill stupidity reminds me that all the great presidents were elected before women got the right to vote.
Aww come on Kieran........
We are not ALL that stupid !!!!
