On Monday, February 10th at 5:00 p.m. Eastern (U.S.) Time, we'll again open the doors of The Wild Geese Virtual Síbín for another riveting hour of conversation with influential figures in the Irish world. This time around, we'll be joined by Alex Fegan, Director of the film "The Irish Pub", Brendan Barry of Irish Business Solutions, and Marcus Trapper of Real Irish Pubs. We'll be discussing the pub's role in Irish culture.
Alex Fegan's recent documentary film "The Irish Pub" is having its North American premiere at the Toronto Irish Film Festival on February 28, 2014. The film is a celebration of and eulogy to the greatest institution in Irish society, the pub - or more specifically the traditional Irish publicans who run these establishments and the characters and communities that gather there.
The featured bar folk all run and own pubs that have been in their families for generations and it is through their warmth, wit and wisdom that viewers gain an insight into the essence of the Irish pub experience. "The Irish Pub" will then go on an extended tour of the U.S. where it will screen in theatres in Chicago, New York, Boston, Washington, Los Angeles and San Francisco. It will also subsequently be available online for download and streaming and on DVD.
Our live broadcasts from The Wild Geese Virtual Síbín give us all an opportunity to interact and learn from some of the "movers and shakers" in the worldwide Irish community.
