Join us as we chat in real-time with Irish-Australian author, James O'Brien.
Recollections of the 1950s and 60s in and around Dublin, the famed capital of the Irish republic, form the basis of James' historically insightful and highly entertaining memoir "Against the Wind."
These LIVE Community Chats are always lively and enjoyable, so come along and chat for a bit with a man who has many enthralling stories to tell.
Sorry missed James. Hope he might contact me on here as we had some O'Briens
in our family who went to Australia, circa 1840s.
Bernard, I am a 'new chum' here in Australia (45+ years) so am not sure if I can be of any help. If you tell me what part of Aust your folks came to, I may be able to point you in the right direction. Australia was still made up of separate colonies in 1840s so if you know which State they came to that should get started. Cheers, James
Good to hear from you Seamus. I couldn't provide anything on Australia. It seems if they came to the US, we could search for them etc. If they went to Australia, it was like good bye; for us anyway
