2013 North American Region Finals

August 2, 3 & 4, 2013 in East Durham, New York

The USA national championship (North American Region Finals) of one of the world’s oldest sports, Irish road bowling, will send bowls flying down a country lane in East Durham, New York, August 2-4, 2013, hosted by the Bol~Chumann New York Road Bowling Club.  Winners in East Durham will advance to the All Ireland Finals in Ireland in September.  The best players in the USA will compete in this unique and exciting sport. These skilled bowlers can hurl the iron and steel bowl, about the size of baseball, 250, even 300 yards down a narrow country road.

Several All Ireland Champions, including Adrian Lappin and Fergal Carr from New York, Con O’Callaghan, Brendan Fleming  and 2012 All Ireland Champion Florrie O’Mahoney from Boston, and North American Region Champion Travis Craig from West Virginia are expected to be on hand.  Often after more than a mile of one-on-one bowling, a match will be decided by only a few feet on the last shot.

East Durham, New York is on Route 145, off I- 87 North, about 2 hours north of New York City.
