I lived in West Africa for four years and regularly traveled to South Africa during that time. My grandfather, that's his photo was at the Anzac landing & served right through the Gallipoli campaign. twice wounded there he then served on the Western Front till Ausgust 1917 when he went on leave to ireland where he stayed for 27 months AWL working with the Irish Volunteers. I am working on the story of Australian & New Zealand soldiers who fought for Ireland, The Diggers & the IRA. Cheers, kerry.
